Hi, I'm Charlotte. I teach private swimming lessons for babies and children at Victoria Leisure in Southport. Whether your little one is nervous, just getting started, or ready to push on β we go at their pace, not anyone else's.
I started Swim With Charlotte because I wanted children to actually enjoy learning to swim β not just get through it. In a group class, it's hard to go at one child's pace. In a 1-to-1, everything is about your child. I've watched nervous children who wouldn't put their face in the water become genuinely confident little swimmers. That never gets old.
Two simple options β private one-to-one lessons, or small weekend groups
A completely private lesson just for your child β no other children, no distractions. Available any day of the week, 8am to 7pm. Your child works with their instructor for the full 30 minutes, entirely at their own pace. Best option for nervous swimmers or anyone wanting to progress quickly.
Small group sessions on Saturdays and Sundays only. Maximum of 6 children per session β small enough for every child to get proper attention, and great for kids who enjoy a bit of company in the water.
Building water confidence together in a lovely warm pool. Gentle, unhurried and led entirely by your baby's mood on the day. Run as a private 1-to-1 session.
Availability changes week to week β send an enquiry and I'll let you know what's free.
We also run small group sessions every Saturday and Sunday, all day from 8am to 7pm. Sessions are 30 minutes with a maximum of 6 children β small enough that every child still gets proper attention. At Β£10 per child, it's a brilliant option if your little one enjoys being around other kids in the water.
Qualified, DBS checked and genuinely passionate about helping children feel at home in the water
I've been teaching babies and children to swim for years and I genuinely love every lesson. I started Swim With Charlotte because I believe kids learn best when it's relaxed, fun and completely on their terms.

Tell me a little about your child and I'll get back to you with available times
The national framework we teach to β every child works through these stages at their own pace
The very first step. Children get comfortable in the water, learn how to get in and out safely, and start moving about on their own terms. Floats and armbands can be used throughout this stage.
Children start travelling under their own steam with no buoyancy aids, and get confident putting their face in the water and breathing out.
Distance doubles to 10 metres and children get properly comfortable submerging β including diving down to collect an object, which is usually a favourite.
The focus moves to technique. Children develop a recognisable leg kick for front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, and are introduced to sculling.
Arms join the legs, so all four strokes come together properly. Treading water and sculling are taught here β both genuinely important safety skills.
Strokes become efficient rather than just possible, with proper rhythmic breathing. Children also learn to swim in clothes and perform a basic rescue.
The final core stage. All four strokes are swum to a good standard over 25 metres, distance builds to 100 metres, and everything learned so far is combined.
